What started on a scratch pad, moved to my dream of bringing my book to life — where I found that sometimes the most beautiful chapters of life begin when we are willing to learn something new. I discovered how to illustrate using Canva and learned the process of self-publishing through Nuria Corbi's YouTube class. With curiosity, patience and determination, I was able to transform the ideas from my heart into books that children can hold, read, and cherish.
My book, You Should Know – A Mother's Love, is especially meaningful because it was created from moments shared with my own children. During many road trips traveling through the Great Smoky Mountains from South Carolina to Kentucky to visit my parents and my brother, we spent hours talking, laughing, and creating rhyming phrases together. Those conversations became life lessons woven into a story about unconditional love, encouragement, and the bond between a mother and child. The character Hoppy was born while I was learning the publishing process. What began as a way to practice my new skills quickly became something much bigger — a lovable character who now stars in a four-book series designed to help children learn their ABCs, counting, and early learning concepts through fun and engaging stories.
Alongside my books, I create handcrafted oyster shell trinket dishes, each one thoughtfully designed and made by hand. Every shell has its own natural beauty and personality, making each piece a unique keepsake. From coastal-inspired designs to meaningful gifts, these creations are made to bring a little beauty and joy into everyday moments.
